HARRIS JOINS NATIONAL FORUM ON CAREERS IN THE ARTS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES JUNE 14-16, 1998.

(Cincinnati, OH -- June 1, 1998) John C. Harris, founder and president of ViewSource Media, a local leading Internet marketing communications firm, will join a selected panel of speakers in The First-ever National Forum on Careers in the arts for People with Disabilities. The forum is to be held at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., June 14-16, 1998. Selected keynote speakers and panel discussions will be audio- and video-streamed over the Internet on http://artsedge.kennedy-center.org/ during the forum.

Harris, a business leader with a background in strategically blending art, science and technology in marketing communications, who also happens to be a person that suffers a severe disability from birth, was invited to sit on the prestigious panel of business leaders and policy makers to accomplish three goals: 1) access the state of education and career opportunities in the arts of people with disabilities; 2) identify strategies to overcome obstacles; and 3) find ways to advance arts careers for people with disabilities.

Hundreds of participants are planning to attend as well as individuals from around the world interested in arts and employment in the arts for people with disabilities can fully participate in the Forum via the Internet. Registration is closed, but online participants will have access to the Forum's agenda, concept papers, keynote addresses, daily updates, and final recommendations. Internet participants can also provide valuable input on the Forum's three focal areas (training, funding and employment) via listservs. Harris, along with other participant speakers will receive daily updates on breakout sessions and discussions over the Internet through ArtsEdge and this information will be woven into the Forum's final report for distribution nationally in print and on ArtsEdge.
