(Cincinnati, OH --
Sept. 22, 2000) -- GirlGeeks, a Web-based women’s
professional organization, this week named ViewSource Media’s Robin Kane a
"GirlGeek of the Week." Kane is an executive producer at ViewSource.
"Robin’s made a tremendous contribution to our
organization since she came here a little less than a year ago," said John
C. Harris, ViewSource founder and CEO. "It’s not surprising she’s gaining
the respect of a national organization."
Each week GirlGeeks posts the background of a woman
whose accomplishments in the Web technology field serve as an example for
aspiring professionals.
Past honorees include a computer architect at Intel, a Webmaster at Sun
Microsystems, a software engineer at Macromedia, a system administrator at
Harvard’s Division of Engineering and Applied Science and a vice president at
J.P. Morgan.
"Geek" is defined in the Wired Stylebook
as "someone who codes for fun, speaks Unix among friends," and the
term is considered to be a compliment in the Web industry.
Another of ViewSource’s top management team members
earlier this year received honors for professional achievement. John Harris was
a finalist in the Cincinnati Ernst & Young office’s 2000 "Entrepreneur
of the Year" competition for the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region.
